Charlotte Flair believes there is a bigger picture behind her current WWE tag team run with Alexa Bliss, despite still viewing herself as someone who should be presented as one of the company’s main attractions.
Charlotte Flair has spent recent months working alongside Alexa Bliss, allowing the former Women’s Champion to explore a different side of her character. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Flair acknowledged that she still believes she should be marketed at the top of the women’s division.
“Do I agree that I should be a main attraction? Yes. Do I think that I should be looked at and marketed like that champion that you’re thinking? Yes,” Flair said.
However, Flair suggested that her partnership with Bliss is part of a longer-term direction and has given her the opportunity to demonstrate more range as a performer.
“But I think being in this tag, whether it’s slow or not for some of my fans, I think there is a bigger picture, and that I’m going to keep working towards, keep fighting for that. So, in me being able to be comedic with Lexi or in the tag or working with so many different characters, and I don’t want to say underdog, but I’m kind of like, am I kind of like an underdog right now? A little bit,” she added.
Flair also believes the storyline is allowing her to show more vulnerability after spending much of her WWE career portraying a dominant character.
“But I think it’s just showing that vulnerability and showing that, like, hey, I don’t need to have a main… Like, I’m interesting. And I think people just got, like, how do you relate to being great? But they just didn’t realise, like, what it took and the sacrifice to, like, hey, I’m a character, but I was actually really good at being bad, and it was almost too good at being bad.”
Charlotte Flair Still Remains In The WWE Women’s Division Title Picture
Despite her ongoing partnership with Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair has remained involved in WWE’s singles championship picture. She recently competed in the Interim WWE Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam.
The partnership has also expanded on SmackDown, where Flair and Bliss recently aligned themselves with former NXT star Tatum Paxley.
