Chad Gable could potentially have a future outside WWE’s ring as discussions continue about a possible involvement with Real American Freestyle.
Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff revealed that Chad Gable has shown interest in the amateur wrestling promotion he launched with Hulk Hogan. Bischoff highlighted Gable’s decorated amateur wrestling background and suggested he would be a natural fit for the organisation.
“I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that Chad Gable is a phenomenal, phenomenal amateur wrestler and is kind of sniffing around Real American Freestyle, just throwing it out there,” Bischoff said.
While nothing has been finalised, Bischoff confirmed that discussions have taken place regarding Gable potentially becoming involved with the promotion.
“We’re talking about it. There’s some contractual issues that can kind of make that difficult, but we’re having discussions and relatively serious ones.”
Bischoff did not elaborate on who exactly is involved in the talks, nor did he indicate whether WWE has been approached directly. However, his comments suggest there is genuine interest in exploring a partnership.
The former WWE executive also hinted that Gable may not be the only well-known wrestling figure interested in Real American Freestyle.
“I’m not going to mention any names, but I was having a conversation not too long ago with someone we all know, and they’re very excited about what we’re doing at Real American Freestyle.”
Chad Gable’s Amateur Wrestling Background
Before beginning his WWE career, Chad Gable established himself as one of the top amateur wrestlers in the United States. He represented Team USA at the 2012 Olympic Games and has frequently incorporated his amateur credentials into his WWE character.
Real American Freestyle has already attracted a number of notable names from the combat sports world, including UFC fighters Merab Dvalishvili, Henry Cejudo, Arman Tsarukyan, Frankie Edgar and Urijah Faber.
With WWE and UFC both operating under the TKO Group Holdings umbrella, the possibility of crossover appearances remains an intriguing prospect. For now, however, Gable has not been announced for any Real American Freestyle events, and any potential involvement appears to remain in the discussion stage.
