Former WWE star Carlito says retirement may finally be approaching, but not quite yet.
Carlito recently discussed his long-term future during an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet and revealed he is currently aiming for roughly five more years in wrestling before stepping away from the business.
Since departing WWE in June 2025, Carlito has remained active on the independent scene, continuing the touring schedule that has defined much of his career. However, the former Intercontinental Champion admitted his focus has increasingly shifted toward preparing for life after wrestling.
“I’m getting there. I still got a little bit left in the tank,” Carlito said. “It’s not that I don’t want to do it anymore, I’m just focusing more on the exit plan.”
Carlito explained that his most recent WWE run significantly helped him financially as he prepares for retirement.
“The WWE run helped out a lot with that, with the retirement plan,” he said. “A couple more years, and then I can ride off into the sunset.”
Carlito Wants To Be Forgotten About After His Wrestling Career Is Over
When asked what retirement ideally looks like, Carlito joked that he would prefer fans eventually stop hearing about him altogether while he relaxes somewhere near a beach. The veteran also gave a more direct estimate on his timeline, saying “five-ish” years remains the goal, although he acknowledged his body could ultimately make the decision for him sooner.
Carlito added that he has adapted his current wrestling style to focus more on entertaining fans while helping preserve his body for the remainder of his career.
