Former WWE Intercontinental and United States Champion Carlito named the wrestler he thinks is the best he’s ever been in the ring with.
Carlito believes Shawn Michaels was the best wrestler he ever shared the ring with. Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the 26-year wrestling veteran reflected on working with Michaels during his original run in WWE in the mid-2000s. The pair competed against each other several times on Raw and also shared the ring during a multi-man match at Backlash 2006.
“It’s probably Shawn Michaels,” he said. “He is what they say.”
Carlito also praised Michaels for being easy to work with in the ring and revealed that Michaels once complimented him after one of their matches.
“He praised me, too. He said that I was working with me like a night off,” he explained. “So I took that as a compliment.”
Carlito Said That Shawn Michaels Told Him That He Didn’t Like Him
Despite the praise professionally, Carlito admitted the two were never particularly close on a personal level. According to the former two-time WWE Tag Team Champion, Shawn Michaels once bluntly told him he didn’t like him and found him “too loud.”
“Personally, he didn’t like me; I was too loud or something,” he said. “I forgot, he told me to my face, though, so I respect that.”
