Bruce Prichard has revealed he was firmly against the decision to end The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak, calling the choice something he still dislikes today.
Speaking with The Undertaker on the Six Feet Under podcast, the long-time WWE producer said that while he understood the business logic behind Brock Lesnar being the man chosen to break the streak, he wished the historic run had simply been left untouched.
“I hated it,” Bruce Prichard admitted. “If anybody was credible enough to do it, it was Brock Lesnar, but I wish it would have never happened.”
Prichard explained that he had watched the streak grow from the earliest stages of the Undertaker character and came to view it as something unique within wrestling that should have remained intact.
“It was something that I was a part of from day one. I watched it grow like a baby and I felt it should have been pure forever,” he said.
What Did Bruce Prichard Text Vince McMahon After The Undertaker’s Streak Ended?
Bruce Prichard’s objections were strong enough that he sent Vince McMahon a message the night of WrestleMania 30, even though he was not working for WWE at the time. Prichard waited until the following morning to write to the chairman, wanting to make sure The Undertaker was safe after being taken to the hospital for a concussion evaluation.
“I wish you would not have done that, but you have your reasons,” he recalled texting, while also complimenting the remainder of the show.
The conversation also took a lighter turn when Prichard joked that the streak “should have ended with Giant Gonzalez,” referencing their infamous WrestleMania IX encounter. Undertaker laughed and admitted it almost felt that way in the ring because the match was so taxing.
Prichard’s comments underline how deeply the streak resonated not only with fans but with people behind the scenes. Even a decade later, one of WWE’s most trusted voices still wishes the final number had remained 21 and 0.
