It took 12 years but Bronson Reed is finally where he wants to be, in the WWE.
Speaking to the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, Reed said signing with the WWE was confirmation that he had made all the right choices.
“It was a big deal for me. It almost felt like a culmination of all my work on the independents to get to that point. I was wrestling for 12 years before I got signed with WWE and it was always a goal of mine to not only get signed with WWE but also become a champion and that was the night that it happened,” he said about winning the NXT North American Championship.
“I remember this was when Triple H was still in charge of NXT, Black and Gold era, it was a lot of what you did was based on what you could do in the ring. It was all around the matches and I think me and Johnny had a hell of a match,” he said about the bout.
What topped off the moment for Reed was that his wife was there to see it all.
“My wife was there to see it happen and I just remember I think the ending shot is there’s pyro going off behind me and I’m crouched down looking at this championship crying. I just couldn’t help it. It was just overwhelming sense of emotion,” he said.
Reed was so swept up in the moment he forgot what he was supposed to do to end the show.
“I’m crying with this championship and I can hear the referees and everyone saying, ‘Stand up and hold the title.’ They’re yelling at me to get this last shot on camera but I’m too caught up in the moment to even realize what they’re saying,” he laughed.
Bronson Reed along with Bron Breakker, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar take on the team of CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, The Usos and Roman Reigns in the WarGames match at Survivor Series tomorrow.
