Brie Bella has admitted she will not return to WWE for some time.
At SummerSlam, Brie Bella suffered a broken scapula during a match where she teamed up with Nikki Bella and Paige to take on Fatal Influence. At the time, Bella said the injury could leave her on the shelf for three to six months.
Now, on a solo episode of the Nikki & Brie Show, Bella has given an update on her recovery, admitting that she won’t be back in action anytime soon.
“I still think my days to be in-ring are still far, unfortunately. Just so you all know, I’m not the type of girl anymore who’s going to rush things. So for me it’s making sure my bones are fused, then next going back into the right type of exercise, getting my body strong. And then the next is getting back into practicing in the ring and making sure that my in-ring work is back to par. I don’t want to be rusty in the ring anymore. I want all of it out before I make that comeback, but I’ll keep you guys updated.”
Bella also said that while her recovery is a slow process, it hasn’t been hard on her mentally.
“Remember, this is a slow process, but it’s a good one. It hasn’t mentally been hard on me. At first, I was super bummed out because I had so much momentum. I knew where I was going, I knew my endgame. Obviously, [the injury] throws everything off but at the same time I kind of needed this to just remember how important my health is.
“I think when you’re really in it, you forget about that and almost take it for granted, so for me, when you get an injury like this and all of a sudden you’re limited, you really are just thanking God every day for your health and just how blessed you are to be able to move and just get in the gym and do the things.”
Brie Bella Still Limited By Injury
During the episode, Brie Bella said she is unable to do the exercises she wants to get to, and is not yet cleared to lift anything over five pounds in weight. Currently, she is focused on strengthening the muscles around her broken bone.
“I’m still not cleared to do the exercises I would like to do. And I will admit, there are times where I will go to shut a window and I get really bad spasms or sharp pains. I’m still really cautious about picking up things that aren’t heavier than five pounds. I’m not cleared to pick up anything heavier than five pounds. I’m very smart with that.
“As of right now, I’m still just in physical therapy three days a week doing, for someone like myself, the most basic type of exercises. But really what we’re trying to do is strengthen the muscles around the scapula.”
While Brie is out of action, her sister Nikki Bella is continuing her feud with Paige and the two are set to face off on the October 16th edition of SmackDown.
