A revealing story from Bret Hart‘s storied career involving Scott Hall‘s Razor’s Edge finisher has shed light on a decision that stood firm throughout his career.
Speaking with Studio 1 Sports, Bret Hart recalled his in-ring encounters with Scott Hall, explaining why he refused to take Hall’s signature Razor’s Edge finisher. Hart detailed his concerns with the move, which sees an opponent lifted and dropped from a high position, stating he never felt comfortable putting himself in that situation.
“His finish where he would do that, what we call the Razor’s Edge, and he would pick you up and drop you on your head,” Hart said. “I remember I go, ‘Nobody is doing that to me, ever. I don’t care,’ and I would stand by that today.”
According to Hart, Hall attempted to reassure him that the move could be performed safely, but the former WWE Champion was not convinced.
“He goes, ‘Oh, don’t worry. I’ll set you down.’ I’m like, ‘Not on my fcking head you’re not. No way. There’s no fcking way. You’re 6’6 or something. You’re gonna fall backwards with me. The first thing that hits the ground is my head, and my upper back.’”
Bret Hart Said That Personal Issues Wasn’t The Reason He Refused To Take Scott Hall’s Finisher
Bret Hart made it clear that his stance was based on safety rather than personal issues, describing the move as unnecessarily risky.
“I said, ‘This doesn’t make any sense. It’s too dangerous, too stupid of a move for me to do,’ and I refused to do it, and period.”
Hall, widely known for his Razor Ramon persona, passed away in March 2022 and remains a highly influential figure in professional wrestling, with many tributes continuing to highlight his legacy in the industry.
