Bray Wyatt worked on an idea with Michael Cole “for years,” but was never able to get it on TV.
Over the course of his career, Bray Wyatt showed himself to have one of the most creative minds in pro wrestling, bringing to life many memorable characters and moments in a way nobody else could.
Michael Cole worked with Wyatt throughout his time in WWE, and during an interview on The Sal Licata Show, he revealed an idea the pair worked on that would have seen Cole interview Wyatt in the style of Charles Manson’s prison interviews.
“Bray and I had worked for a number of years on trying to do a sit-down interview where it would be like Michael Cole interviewing Charles Manson in prison. If you’ve ever gone back and watched some of the old videotapes of interviews that have been done with Manson in prison, it was a really intriguing idea by Bray.”
While Cole and Wyatt put a lot of time into the concept, they were never able to make it happen on TV.
“We had even mapped it out and the concept was ready to go. For some reason, it never happened. But I thought that would have really, especially if it was a multi-part interview series, I think that would have really helped Bray bring out that character even more, and we could see that real sick, sadistic side of that Bray Wyatt character. But everything he touched was gold, guys.
“And just an incredible guy, a guy that is missed every single day by everybody in our company, and, man, I still wish he was here.”
Bray Wyatt tragically passed away in August 2023 at the age of only 36 after suffering a heart attack in his sleep.
WWE Rejected Bray Wyatt’s Request To Meet Charles Manson
In 2025, a former WWE writer recalled that Bray Wyatt pitched to meet Charles Manson in prison. Seemingly, Manson requested the meeting after a friend of Wyatt’s showed him one of the star’s promos. When Wyatt suggested the idea to WWE leadership, however, it was quickly rejected.
