WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has pushed back against claims that he dislikes AEW, calling the suggestion completely false.
During a recent edition of his Booker T Mailbag podcast, the two-time Hall of Famer was asked directly why he “hates AEW.” Booker immediately rejected the claim and made it clear that he has no issue with Tony Khan‘s promotion.
“Why would someone make a statement like that, saying I hate AEW?” Booker said. “That is the most ludicrous thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”
Booker went on to explain that several wrestlers who trained at his Reality of Wrestling school currently work for AEW, making it difficult to understand why he would root against the company.
“You think that when someone can put a roof over their heads and pay their bills, I’m gonna hate on that?” Booker said. “Seriously? You people need to get a grip on yourselves.”
The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion noted that AEW provides another major platform for wrestlers to earn a living and showcase their talents on national television.
Booker T Values Competition In The Professional Wrestling Landscape
Booker T also pointed out that he understands the value of competition in professional wrestling. During the Monday Night Wars, he was one of WCW‘s top stars and benefited from having multiple major promotions competing for talent and viewers.
While he acknowledged that AEW, like any wrestling company, has room for improvement, Booker stressed that criticism of certain aspects of the product should not be confused with hatred toward the promotion itself. The WWE Hall of Famer reiterated that he supports wrestlers having opportunities to succeed, regardless of which company they work for.
