WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has addressed longstanding speculation surrounding his relationship with Triple H, revealing that the two have always maintained a strong professional relationship despite never being particularly close friends.
The former World Heavyweight Champion discussed his approach to relationships within the wrestling industry during the latest episode of his Hall of Fame podcast. Booker T explained that throughout his career, he prioritised maintaining a positive relationship with those running the company over worrying about potential disagreements with fellow wrestlers.
“I always thought that if I didn’t get heat with the boss, I was okay. I don’t remember ever really getting heat with the boss. So I didn’t think about the guys, because when you’re talent, all the rest of those guys on the roster, you’re just as equal or high as they are. When you’re talent, when you know you’re selling tickets, you’re equal. When you’re selling tickets, you might be looked at a little bit different.”
Booker suggested that proving his value as a performer mattered more than building backstage friendships. He explained that he deliberately kept his personal and professional relationships separate, an approach that also applied to his dealings with Triple H.
Booker T Clarifies His Relationship With Triple H
Despite speculation among wrestling fans that the two may have experienced tensions during their careers, Booker T insisted that his relationship with Triple H has always been positive from a professional standpoint.
“I don’t have a lot of friends in the wrestling business. I got a few, but I don’t have a lot of friends because I wasn’t there to make friends. I had a lot of cool associates. Even now, people talk about Hunter [Triple H] and I, and our relationship. Hunter and I, we’ve always had a strong relationship, but it’s always been business.”
Booker clarified that although he respects Triple H, their relationship has never extended into a close personal friendship. He explained that the two have not regularly spent time together socially, but stressed that this does not indicate any underlying problems between them.
“I’ve never looked at this like it was, ‘Hey, we’re buddies. We’re friends,’ or anything like that. Because this thing comes and goes. It’s here, and it’s gone tomorrow. And if you don’t understand that and treat it that way, you can really be upset at the end of the day. I never want to be one of those guys.”
Booker’s comments offer further insight into his approach to navigating the wrestling industry, where professional relationships can often be mistaken for personal friendships or rivalries. While fans have questioned his relationship with Triple H over the years, Booker maintains that the two have consistently shared mutual professional respect.
