For Monroe, “The Glamour” isn’t just a new persona — it’s a symbol of growth, legacy, and family
Blake Monroe has nothing but great things to say about AEW.
“I had a fantastic experience and I did things that I’m so proud of and cherish,” Monroe told Busted Open Radio.
Monroe explained that she had to carefully weigh a jump to WWE.
“I had a really short contract and when it came to an end. There were positives and negatives. It got to the point in wrestling where I did have an amazing story but that was the one thing. I didn’t have much else. I just thought: Is this everything I want?” she said.
In her talks with WWE and NXT, the company was very excited about “The Glamour” persona and her reinventing herself, to a degree.

“It just came down to, I did everything I needed to do (in AEW). I feel like I told a great story and I made people feel something. It was time to close that chapter and start a new one, getting a new name and a whole new experience. There are so many women here. Women’s wrestling is very important in WWE. As a woman, that’s something I want to be a part of. All these different matches and possibilities to me it was a great deal. It was a challenge and I want a challenge,” she said.
She told host Bully Ray that she has no regrets about changing her name or her persona, especially since the name is a tribute to her niece whom she loves dearly.
“I feel like it was the end to a story and I cherished that. I feel like it’s cool that she ‘died.’ I feel like that’s done. And also, I can’t turn back time so I never really think about it but Mariah was my real name and I wish I never used it in wrestling because it’s weird but I did it and I can’t change it. It’s the chance to start something new. I feel like with WWE, it’s like, ‘Hey, we’re going to make this new thing and we’re going to make it a megastar.’ I feel like week by week we do that. I love it and it’s also a tribute to my niece,” she said.
