Billy Gunn says he has no firm plans to retire, despite being 62 years old.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Billy Gunn was asked whether he intends to continue wrestling into his 70s. While he admitted that it is not his goal, he made it clear he is not setting any deadline on his career.
“I want to do it while I still can, and while I’m still having fun,” Gunn said, adding that he now wrestles without the pressure he once felt earlier in his career.
Gunn explained that his current approach is focused more on entertainment than expectations, noting that fans come to enjoy the experience rather than expect a traditional standout match.
“Do I want to? No, I don’t want to work until I’m 70. But is it possible? Sure, anything’s possible,” he said.
He did acknowledge signs of slowing down, pointing to his training routine as a factor.
“I’m getting to the point where I’m kind of slowing down a little,” Gunn added. “I think it’s because the gym is taking over my life.”
Billy Gunn’s 37-Year Long Career
Billy Gunn debuted in 1989 and has competed across multiple major promotions throughout his career, including WWE, TNA, NJPW and AEW. He remains active in the ring, most recently competing earlier this month, while also maintaining a WWE legends contract alongside his current commitments with AEW.
