Big E believes Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods still have plenty left to accomplish in professional wrestling following their departures from WWE.
Speaking on The A2theK Wrestling Show, the former WWE Champion reflected on his longtime New Day teammates leaving the company after opting for releases rather than accepting significant pay cuts as part of WWE’s post-WrestleMania 42 roster changes.
While Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods will become free agents once their 90-day non-compete clauses expire later this summer, Big E said he has deliberately avoided asking too many questions about their future plans.
“It is a big period of change for those two, for sure,” he said. “I think they both assumed that their entire wrestling careers would be in WWE.”
Big E acknowledged that the wrestling business has changed under new ownership and suggested his former teammates likely expected to spend longer with the company.
“I think they thought they had a little bit more time in the company,” he said.
Big E Doesn’t Believe Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods Are Done With Wrestling
Despite their WWE exits, Big E does not believe either man is ready to step away from wrestling.
“I don’t think those guys are retired. I don’t think they’re going to put their boots away and be done. So I’m excited to see whatever is next,” he said. “We communicate a lot. I try not to pry. I let them tell me what they want to tell me.”
Big E also believes the break has given Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods an opportunity to spend valuable time with their families after years of travelling on WWE’s demanding schedule.
“They each have three kids apiece,” Big E said. “They missed a lot of time with their families as well.”
Although New Day is no longer together in WWE, Big E said the bond between the trio remains as strong as ever.
“Those guys will be family forever,” he said. “I think what we built, for me, I can’t imagine honestly a better partnership. I can’t imagine a more fun run.”
