Becky Lynch says the only way to reach the top of WWE is to overcome her greatness.
Becky Lynch is one of WWE’s most decorated veterans, with seven Women’s Title runs under her belt as well as two reigns with the recently created Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Unfortunately, that success has led to fans claiming that The Man is out to hold other stars down.
In a new interview on Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, Lynch didn’t deny the accusation, instead leaning into it and challenging the rest of the locker room to rise to the occasion.
“Good. I am. I absolutely am. I absolutely am holding them down. This is what it’s like to be held down by The Man. Let’s see if you can rise against it. If you can rise against it, good on you, then you deserve to be on the top, but you won’t because I’m still the greatest of all-time.
“I will hold them down and I will keep them down because they don’t deserve to be in my spot. You want me to just roll over? I’m great, I’m amazing, I’m fantastic. I’m not going to rollover. This is a competitive business. I have a child to feed. Roman (Reigns) comes out, he’s never around. I’m around all the time, making the towns, getting in the ring with everybody. Helping them. Showing them what it’s like to be great so they can see and go, ‘That’s how great I want to be. I want to learn how to be as good as she is.’
“I’m in there with them, and I’m beating the bejesus out of them because I’m great, and they want me to not be great? I can’t help it. I’m just great.”
Becky Lynch Set For Title Match At WWE WrestleMania 42
One star who did overcome Becky Lynch is AJ Lee. In her first singles match in over a decade, Lee defeated Lynch for the Intercontinental Championship at Elimination Chamber by forcing The Man to tap out.
On the March 23rd edition of Raw, Lee challenged Lynch to end their feud with the gold on the line at WrestleMania 42. Lynch accepted the offer, claiming that she would not only win the title back, but she would “end” Lee in the process.
