Bayley‘s upcoming contract decision could reportedly have implications beyond where she wrestles next.
According to Fightful Select, Bayley’s potential free agency has become a significant talking point within both WWE and AEW. The report notes that at least one agent believes the former Women’s Champion should wait until she officially enters the negotiation window before agreeing to a new deal.
With both companies expected to have interest in signing her, Bayley is reportedly in a strong negotiating position. Fightful adds that she could seek contract protections that are uncommon in WWE, including guaranteed contract years or safeguards against being released before the end of her deal.
The report notes that those provisions have become a greater point of discussion following WWE’s recent releases of talent who reportedly had significant time remaining on their contracts.
Bayley Could Explore Options With AEW As Her WWE Contract Nears Expiry
AEW is also believed to offer several advantages should Bayley explore free agency. According to the report, the promotion has a stronger track record of honouring contracts through their full term, covers talent travel expenses and allows wrestlers to accept outside bookings and convention appearances.
The former Women’s Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank winner is also reportedly viewed as one of wrestling’s biggest potential attractions on the convention circuit. A source cited by Fightful believes she would become one of the most sought-after names for fan events if she were available.
While there has been speculation surrounding Bayley’s future, no agreement with either WWE or AEW has been announced, and both companies are expected to be interested if she reaches free agency.
