Bad News Brown will be added to the WWE Hall of Fame Legacy class, with a late star set to be honoured during WrestleMania weekend.
Paul “Triple H” Levesque announced on Thursday that Bad News Brown will be inducted into the 2026 Legacy class, recognising his contributions to professional wrestling. Born in Harlem, New York, Brown began his wrestling career in Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, where he competed against talents including Bret Hart before making his way to WWE in 1988. He quickly established a reputation for his lone wolf persona, often declaring he had no need for allies.
During his time in WWE, Brown shared the ring with some of the biggest names of the era, including Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Roddy Piper, and Jake Roberts. One of his early highlights came at WrestleMania IV, where he won a battle royal by last eliminating Hart.
His rivalry with Piper became one of the defining feuds of his run. After being eliminated by Piper in the 1990 Royal Rumble, Brown returned to the ring and eliminated Piper in retaliation, setting up a match at WrestleMania VI that ended in a double count-out.
Brown later entered into a programme with Roberts, which included the memorable moment when Roberts presented him with a snake. The feud culminated at SummerSlam, where Roberts defeated Brown. That match marked Brown’s final appearance in WWE.
Bad News Brown’s Japan Tenure Following WWE Departure
Following his departure, Bad News Brown competed in Japan for promotions including UWFi and New Japan Pro-Wrestling, as well as on the independent circuit, before retiring in 1999 due to a knee injury.
Before entering professional wrestling, Brown was also an accomplished amateur athlete, winning a bronze medal in judo at the 1976 Olympic Games. Brown passed away in 2007 following a heart attack. His induction into the WWE Hall of Fame Legacy class will honour both his in-ring career and his wider impact on the industry.
