LA Knight has now missed two straight episodes of WWE Raw, and a new backstage report has shed light on why he has been absent from television.
LA Knight’s last match took place on Night One of WrestleMania 42, where he teamed with The Usos to defeat Logan Paul, Austin Theory and IShowSpeed. His most recent television appearance came during the Raw after WrestleMania, where a backstage confrontation with Gunther appeared to set up a future feud.
According to Cory Hays on BodySlam+, those plans were ultimately dropped after WWE shifted Gunther into a programme with Cody Rhodes on SmackDown. That direction became official when Gunther attacked Rhodes following his match with Ricky Saints on last week’s SmackDown.
Despite the absence from television, Knight is reportedly still active with WWE and was involved in company promotional work over the weekend. He appeared alongside Maxxine Dupri at the Mall of America to promote this summer’s WWE SummerSlam in Minneapolis.
LA Knight Was Linked To WrestleMania Programme With Brock Lesnar Before He Was Replaced By Oba Femi
The cancelled Gunther feud is also the second major WrestleMania-season programme that LA Knight has reportedly been connected to, but which never materialised. Earlier this year, he was rumoured as a possible opponent for Brock Lesnar, but that spot instead went to Oba Femi.
Knight has not been linked to WWE’s recent roster cuts or contract restructuring discussions.
