ROH Women’s World Champion Athena has revealed that she had to do more than take on Hazuki at Death Before Dishonor.
Athena suffered an asthma attack during the match. In a clip from the show, Athena is on the arena floor trying desperately to catch her breath as fans encourage her on not knowing what was actually happening.
Athena thanked all the medical personal and trainers who helped her through the scary incident.
“Yeah…. so ….had an asthma attack mid match…. glad my minions had my back!!! A major thank you to [AEW] [ROH] staff for the quick response… keeping the [forever champion] in peak condition,” she wrote.

To her and their credit, Athena continued the match eventually defeating Stardom’s Hazuki.
Athena won the championship in 2022 defeating Mercedes Martinez at Final Battle. She has held the title for 1,352 days.
