Rumours have been swirling about Andrade‘s possible return to the WWE in the near future.
After Andrade El Idolo returned to AEW on the October 1 episode of Dynamite, just 18 days after he was fired from the WWE for “numerous wellness policy violations over the last year”, but shortly after his return he was taken off of AEW programming due to WWE issuing AEW a cease and desist letter stating that El Idolo was in violation of his non-compete clause that was in his contract with the company.
Now, a report from PWInsider has surfaced stating that Andrade has been advertised for independent shows in Maine and New York, but there has been no confirmation yet that he will actually be attending these events. This comes after he made an advertised appearance for WWC in Puerto Rico over the weekend but did not compete in the ring. The report claims that there is a belief that WWE is attempting to leverage the Mexican star’s potential one-year non-compete clause as a way to get him back with the company.
What Is Andrade Doing About His WWE Non-Compete Clause?
Andrade has reportedly “lawyered up” and is prepared to potentially fight WWE in court over his 90-day non-compete clause that was stated in his contract. He believes that because he was fired from the company and not released that his non-compete clause is not valid.
