Former WWE and AEW star Andrade has competed in his first match in over two months and captured a title in the process.
Andrade captured the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship on Saturday night, winning the title at WWC Lockout in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He defeated Xavant at the Cancha Pepin Cestero, making the bout his first match in over two months. Earlier in the day, Andrade revealed that his lawyer had received written permission from WWE allowing him to compete at the event, despite being under a 12-month non-compete clause. He clarified that the clearance applied only to this specific appearance.
The victory marks his second world championship since leaving WWE. He previously won the Crash Heavyweight Championship in October.
Andrade is now the 50th wrestler to hold the WWC Universal Heavyweight Title. Company founder and Puerto Rico wrestling legend, Carlos Colon, remains the most decorated champion in the belt’s history with 26 reigns totalling nearly 4,000 days, followed by Ray Gonzalez with 24 reigns and more than 2,000 days. Carlito ranks third with 17 reigns and over 1,300 days as champion.
