Despite now being in different promotions, Andrade El Idolo wants to team up with his WWE tag partner Rey Fenix around the world.
For the last few months of his last run in WWE, Andrade El Idolo formed a tag team with Rey Fenix. The pair became a big part of SmackDown’s Tag Team Division, and challenged for the WWE Tag Team Titles several times, culminating in being part of the Six-Pack TLC Match at SummerSlam. That match proved to be Andrade’s last in WWE as he was fired soon after, seemingly for “numerous wellness policy violations.”
Following his release, and after a lengthy dispute over a non-compete clause in his WWE contract, El Idolo returned to AEW, where he has found success as a singles star with victories over Kenny Omega and Swerve Strickland. He is also active outside AEW, with matches in NJPW, and independent shows in the US, Mexico, and Europe.
However, in a recent social media post, Andrade has teased returning to tag team action with his old WWE partner. Fenix responded to Andrade on social media, telling him to ‘Keep breaking it down, my brother,’ and El Idolo responded by telling Fenix they should reform their team.

Let’s go for all the tag team championships!” (Translated by DeepL)

Andrade El Idolo Opens Up On Retirement Plans
Soon after rejoining AEW, Andrade revealed that he would like to retire in the company. The star said he was not only back to contribute to AEW, but planned on becoming “one of the greats” in the promotion.
Andrade El Idolo is currently part of the Don Callis Family in AEW, and most recently came up short at Grand Slam Australia, where Adam Page defeated him to become the Number 1 Contender for the AEW World Championship.
