AJ Styles has revealed that he would like to remain involved in professional wrestling after his in-ring career ends, expressing interest in helping develop the next generation of talent.
Speaking about talent development on his Phenomenally Retro Podcast, AJ Styles said he has been inspired by the training environment created by Natalya and TJ Wilson, who run an invite-only programme known as The Dungeon.
“I would like to get something like Nattie and TJ have with their Dungeon because it’s an invite-only kind of experience,” Styles explained.
According to Styles, the appeal of the setup is that participants have already demonstrated enough ability to earn an invitation, allowing training sessions to focus on refining talent rather than teaching the basics.
“You’re invited. That means that you’re well enough known that we know you can get in here and you can hold your own in this ring.”
Styles said he would love to establish a similar facility near home, where he could work with both current WWE talent and aspiring wrestlers looking to take the next step in their careers.
“To have something like that close to me so that I can work with WWE guys and girls, that would be great,” he said. “That’d be important, that way I could see their progression.”
AJ Styles Says He Enjoys Helping Young Wrestlers Develop
The former WWE Champion added that he enjoys helping younger performers improve the finer details of their craft and believes he could play a valuable role in preparing talent for future opportunities.
“I can help them out with the little things and help them get to that next level,” Styles said. “Maybe they’re hoping to get a tryout, and before that tryout, we can get in there and work together a little bit and help them get to that next level.”
While AJ Styles remains an active member of the WWE roster, he admitted that mentoring and coaching wrestlers is something he would like to pursue once his own in-ring career eventually comes to an end.
“That would be something I would like to do,” he said.
