AJ Styles has praised Danhausen and explained how the star “fills a need” in WWE.
Since arriving in WWE in a box at Elimination Chamber, Danhausen has won over a legion of new fans in the company with his bizarre antics and ability to curse anyone in the locker room. However, others think the star’s comedic gimmick is being overused, and that his recent match at Backlash against The Miz and Kit Wilson didn’t fit in with the rest of the event.
Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, AJ Styles hit back at critics, saying that Danhasuen is doing a great job and helps make the shows more entertaining for everyone.
“He’s doing a great job, and this is what we need. A lot of people don’t understand it. We need a little bit of everything. We want to make sure you get the entertainment from wrestling, but also we want to make you laugh, too, and we got the storylines. We want to give you a little bit of everything. Danhausen is definitely filling the need.”
Danhausen Was A Top Merchandise Seller At WrestleMania 42
A sure sign of Danhasuen’s popularity came at WrestleMania 42, with it being reported that he was one of the top three merchandise sellers over the weekend, behind only Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. WWE and Fanatics were impressed with the response, and multiple restocks were needed to keep up with demand.
At the event, Danhasuen appeared during a segment with John Cena, where he led a legion of Minihausens in attacking Miz and Kit Wilson.
