AJ Styles may be taking on more responsibilities behind the scenes in WWE, but he says one role he has no interest in is joining the company’s creative team.
Speaking on the Phenomenally Retro podcast, AJ Styles made it clear he intentionally avoids getting involved in wider storyline discussions because he does not want to be part of WWE’s booking process.
“I don’t know anything. But that’s not my job,” Styles said when discussing WWE creative plans.
Styles explained that his focus remains strictly limited to matters directly involving himself rather than broader company storytelling or creative direction.
“My job is specific to what is for me, as AJ Styles, and that’s not it,” he added.
The former WWE Champion has recently spoken about transitioning into more backstage responsibilities following the winding down of his in-ring career. Part of that role reportedly includes scouting and mentoring talent, as well as helping evaluate prospective WWE recruits. However, Styles stressed that he has no desire to become part of WWE’s creative committee or participate in booking meetings.
“I don’t need that job, nor do I want to be part of the storyline committee,” Styles said. “That’s not what I want to do.”
The comments come shortly after Styles discussed the traits he now looks for while evaluating talent, including athleticism, charisma, promo ability and overall drive.
