AJ Lee has confirmed that she will remain part of WWE programming despite currently taking a break from in-ring competition.
The former Women’s Intercontinental Champion has not wrestled since WrestleMania 42 Night One, where she lost the title to Becky Lynch. Shortly after the event, AJ Lee shared a farewell message with fans that appeared to signal the end of her latest WWE run, though she stopped short of announcing a full retirement.
Now, Lee has revealed that fans will see her again when WWE Unreal returns to Netflix later this year. Speaking on State of Mind with Maurice Benard (quotes courtesy of si.com), Lee discussed balancing her wrestling career with her work as a writer and producer, confirming that she will appear in the next season of the behind-the-scenes WWE series.
“The balancing act of trying to fit two careers into one life has been interesting,” Lee said. “I spent the last eight months on Raw on Netflix. I’m going to be doing Unreal, the documentary series for WWE, and then I’m still writing and producing.”
While WWE has not yet announced a premiere date for the third season of Unreal, the series is expected to return to Netflix this summer. The upcoming season is anticipated to feature several major WWE stories, including John Cena‘s retirement run and Brock Lesnar‘s return to action.
AJ Lee’s Surprise WWE Comeback In 2025
AJ Lee made her surprise WWE comeback in 2025 after spending a decade away from the ring. She quickly became involved in a high-profile storyline alongside CM Punk, Becky Lynch, and Seth Rollins before later capturing the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
Although she is currently away from active competition, Lee’s latest comments indicate that she remains involved with WWE and will continue to have a presence on company programming in the months ahead. Whether that eventually leads to another in-ring return remains to be seen, but Lee has once again left the door open for a future comeback.
