Momentum continues to build towards a high-profile women’s singles clash for AJ Lee at WrestleMania 42.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, a one-on-one match between AJ Lee and Becky Lynch is considered one of the most firmly locked-in bouts for the WrestleMania weekend, with plans in place for some time. Lee has been a constant problem for Lynch since her surprise return last fall, beginning with her in-ring comeback at WrestlePalooza in September. That night, Lee teamed with her husband CM Punk to defeat Lynch and Seth Rollins in a featured mixed tag bout.
Their rivalry escalated at November’s Survivor Series, where Lee submitted Lynch to end the women’s WarGames match. Later that month, she again inserted herself into Lynch’s business, costing her the Women’s Intercontinental Title on Raw from Madison Square Garden.
Lee, who is working a part-time schedule, has not appeared since November, with those two matches marking her first in-ring action in a decade. Lynch regained the Women’s Intercontinental Title in January, adding further fuel to a rivalry that now appears destined for a title match at WrestleMania.
How Many Matches Has AJ Lee Had Since Her WWE Return?
AJ Lee has only had two matches since she returned to WWE on the September 5, 2025, episode of WWE SmackDown. The two matches she has competed in so far were her mixed tag match at WrestlePalooza, where she teamed with her husband, CM Punk, to defeat Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins.
Her second match was the Women’s WarGames match at Survivor Series, where she was victorious again, teaming with Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, Iyo Sky, and Rhea Ripley to defeat the team of Lynch, Lash Legend, Nia Jax, Asuka, and Kairi Sane.
