An AEW star and former World Trios Champion is not yet medically cleared to return to the ring.
Jay White is still not medically cleared to wrestle and is not expected to return to AEW any time soon, according to a new report. Fightful Select reported yesterday that White has yet to be factored into creative plans and “isn’t expected to be back imminently”. AEW President Tony Khan previously stated in August that White “is going to be out for a long time”, without offering specifics.
White has been out since late March 2025 after suffering a broken hand during a match with Kevin Knight on Collision. He subsequently underwent shoulder surgery to address ongoing issues. The 33-year-old made a surprise non-wrestling appearance at Wrestle Kingdom 20, taking part in Hiroshi Tanahashi’s retirement ceremony and presenting flowers to his former rival.
White’s absence means The Bang Bang Gang is currently without two members, with Colten Gunn also sidelined due to a knee injury. Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn have continued representing the group, with Robinson himself only recently returning from a lengthy layoff. Bang Bang Gang last competed at Worlds End in December, where they fell short in an AEW Tag Team Title match.
When Did Jay White Sign With AEW?
Jay White signed full-time with AEW in April 2023, and he made his debut as a full-time performer on the April 5 episode of Dynamite. White had worked sporadically for the company in 2022, making his first appearance for the company on the February 9, 2022, episode of Dynamite.
He previously missed three months in 2024 with a foot injury, and his current absence has been explained on television via an off-screen attack by the Death Riders.
