An AEW star has revealed that they require shoulder surgery after struggling with recurring injury problems, having initially hoped to avoid undergoing another operation.
Anna Jay provided an update on her condition during a Twitch stream in late September, explaining that she had consulted several doctors and surgeons before deciding that surgery was the best option. Jay revealed that she expected to undergo the procedure within the following two weeks, although it remains unclear whether the operation has since taken place.
“I’ll give you guys the update, it’s a little unfortunate: I do have to have shoulder surgery,” Jay said.
“I’m going to be having that in the next week or two. So unfortunately, I did not want to have surgery, obviously, no one wants to have surgery. But the reason it’s taken me this long is because I’ve gotten multiple opinions from different doctors and different surgeons just to make sure that I’m making the right choice and the best for my shoulder.
So, obviously, I would have had my surgery a couple months ago if that was not the case. But I just wanted to make sure, like I said, I was making the right decision and doing it with the right person. So I’m having surgery soon, unfortunately. But, fortunately, hopefully it fixes my shoulder issues.”
Anna Jay Discusses Shoulder Surgery And Potential AEW Return
Anna Jay explained that surgery became necessary because her shoulder kept dislocating, raising concerns about further problems if the injury went untreated. The AEW star previously underwent shoulder surgery in 2021, making this another significant setback in her wrestling career.
Although disappointed about requiring another operation, Jay said she was attempting to remain positive and focus on getting healthy. When asked about her potential recovery time, Jay suggested that she expected a relatively typical rehabilitation period for a shoulder injury.
However, she declined to provide a specific timetable, explaining that she did not want to raise expectations about her return before knowing how her recovery would progress. Jay currently has no confirmed return date to AEW competition.
