AEW will not be pursuing the “AEW: Shockwave” trademark any longer.
According to records released by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, AEW gave up trademarking the name last week.
Also last week, Khan posted a video on social media revealing that he and NWA owner Billy Corgan had a “really nice conversation” about AEW creating the new National Championship, amongst other things.
Back in September of last year, AEW filed their application for the name which was disputed by the NWA who had used that title for events in the past.
On the Ariel Helwani Show last week, Khan had said about the name: “I’m probably not going to use it. I told Corgan if that’s something you want to do and you did it first then you can do that.”
AEW Shockwave was rumored to be a new weekly television show replacing AEW Rampage.
