A chaotic night on AEW Dynamite saw major matches set for AEW Dynasty, a statement win for Kenny Omega, and a brutal closing angle that left Darby Allin laid out.
Omega opened last night’s AEW Dynamite with a hard-fought victory over Swerve Strickland. The two delivered a physical back-and-forth contest, with Strickland coming close after multiple Swerve Stomps. Omega weathered the storm and ultimately secured the win with the One-Winged Angel.
Later in the night, Omega returned to confront AEW World Champion MJF. MJF boasted about his recent victory over “Hangman” Adam Page and declared himself unmatched, but Omega challenged him to a title match at Dynasty. MJF accepted the challenge, although he refused a handshake before leaving the ring.
Will Ospreay also made his intentions clear in a video message, challenging Jon Moxley to a match at Dynasty. Moxley responded later in the show after competing in trios action, accepting the challenge and downplaying the personal nature of their rivalry.
The Death Riders, consisting of Moxley, Daniel Garcia, and Marina Shafir, defeated SkyFlight in a chaotic mixed trios match. Despite strong showings from Dante and Darius Martin, along with Zayda Steel, outside interference and a dominant finish saw Garcia secure the win after Moxley delivered a curb stomp to Darius.
“Speedball” Mike Bailey picked up a quick win over Rocky Romero, putting him away with his signature offence in short order.
In tag team action, The Dogs, Clark Connors and David Finlay, defeated Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong. Cassidy created early momentum, but The Dogs capitalised on a late opening and finished Cassidy with a double-team manoeuvre.
The AEW Women’s World Championship was also on the line, with Thekla retaining against Mina Shirakawa. Shirakawa pushed the champion throughout the match, but Thekla resorted to using brass knuckles behind the referee’s back to secure the victory.
Darby Allin defeated Rush in a no count-out match in the main event, surviving a physical brawl that spilled across ringside. Allin capitalised after avoiding the Bull’s Horns to pick up the win.
However, the show ended with a major post-match angle. Mark Davis appeared and attacked Allin on the entrance ramp before Don Callis arrived with Lance Archer, Rocky Romero, Trent Beretta, and Andrade El Idolo. The group continued the assault inside the ring, with Callis confirming that MJF had paid him to target Allin. The Don Callis Family stood tall as Dynamite went off the air.
Elsewhere, FTR delivered a heated message to Adam Copeland, referencing their recent attack on Beth Phoenix and warning of further consequences, while tensions across multiple storylines continued to build heading into Dynasty.
