The final edition of AEW Dynamite before AEW Forbidden Door delivered an action-packed night on June 24, with Konosuke Takeshita retaining the International Championship, Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland picking up key victories, and Mark Briscoe standing tall after a chaotic closing brawl involving both Forbidden Door teams.
The show opened with six-man tag team action as The Death Riders defeated Brodido and Mistico. Jon Moxley capitalised on a distraction from Marina Shafir to pin Brody King after a roll-up.
Backstage, Darby Allin, The Conglomeration and Konosuke Takeshita sent a warning to MJF ahead of Sunday’s 12-man Steel Cage Match, while Kyle O’Reilly revealed Mark Briscoe would address the AEW fans later in the evening.
Harley Cameron secured her place in the TBS Championship Survival of the Fittest match by upsetting Marina Shafir with a surprise roll-up despite Shafir controlling much of the contest.
Will Ospreay then defeated El Phantasmo in a thrilling encounter. After an evenly fought battle featuring several spectacular exchanges, Ospreay finished the match with a Styles Clash followed by the Hidden Blade.
Swerve Strickland followed with a hard-fought victory over Daniel Garcia. Garcia repeatedly targeted Strickland’s leg throughout the match, but Strickland battled through the damage before putting Garcia away with the Hidden Blade. Ospreay later returned to prevent Strickland from continuing his attack after the bell.
MJF and The Don Callis Family then delivered a backstage message aimed at Briscoe and his team, with MJF once again questioning whether Briscoe belonged in the AEW World Championship picture.
Zack Sabre Jr. continued his momentum heading into Forbidden Door by forcing Jack Perry to submit with one of his trademark submissions after a technical contest.
The Young Bucks defeated TMDK after connecting with the Meltzer Driver, but celebrations were short-lived as Zack Sabre Jr. and TMDK launched a post-match attack. Kenny Omega made the save before exchanging words with Sabre, promising redemption at Forbidden Door, while Sabre warned Omega to stay out of the hospital.
Queen Aminata also qualified for the TBS Championship Survival of the Fittest match by defeating Red Velvet, while backstage, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage brawled with The Dogs in a wild confrontation that spilled throughout the backstage area.
In the night’s main event, Konosuke Takeshita successfully retained the AEW International Championship against Ricochet. Ricochet pushed the champion to the limit with an impressive aerial assault and several close near falls, but Takeshita eventually retained after delivering Raging Fire.
Mark Briscoe then addressed the crowd ahead of Forbidden Door, promising to earn an AEW World Championship opportunity by leading his team to victory inside the 12-man Steel Cage. His promo was interrupted by Don Callis, who then attacked him from behind, sparking a huge brawl involving members of both teams.
The closing moments saw Konosuke Takeshita, Kazuchika Okada, Kyle O’Reilly, Kevin Knight, Darby Allin, Jake Doyle, Roderick Strong, Orange Cassidy and Andrade El Idolo all become involved. MJF accidentally struck Andrade with the Dynamite Diamond Ring after Briscoe ducked the blow, allowing Briscoe to respond with a J-Driller on MJF before raising the AEW World Championship high above his head alongside his teammates to end Dynamite.
