AEW Dynamite delivered a chaotic and eventful night on February 4, with multiple title pictures shifting and the AEW World Championship scene thrown into turmoil by the end of the show. Several eliminator matches, outside interference, and a shocking main event result ensured Dynamite played a major role in shaping the road to Grand Slam: Australia.
The show opened with a six-man tag team match as The Don Callis Family defeated Death Riders in a physical and fast-paced opener. Josh Alexander, Konosuke Takeshita, and El Clon overcame Daniel Garcia, Jon Moxley, and Pac after a match filled with constant tags and ringside distractions. Takeshita ultimately pinned Garcia after landing Raging Fire, giving Callis’ group a statement win to kick off the night.
Toni Storm and Orange Cassidy teamed up for a rare mixed tag bout against Brittnie Brooks and Jordan Oasis. Storm and Cassidy showed strong chemistry throughout, with Storm controlling much of the action before Cassidy delivered the Orange Punch to secure the victory. Following the match, both acknowledged their upcoming bout at Grand Slam: Australia, where the loser will have their head shaved.
“Hangman” Adam Page continued his resurgence with a hard-fought victory over Mark Davis. Davis relied heavily on power offence and slowed the pace early, but Page rallied with aerial attacks and countered Davis’ size advantage. Page finished the match with the Buckshot Lariat, then used the post-match moment to put both AEW World Champion MJF and Kenny Omega on notice.
One of the night’s marquee matches saw Andrade El Idolo defeat Kenny Omega following outside interference. The two exchanged heavy offence and near-falls, with Omega repeatedly attempting to set up the One-Winged Angel. Don Callis attempted to influence the outcome, and while Swerve Strickland briefly intervened, El Idolo capitalised with a low blow and his finishing move to secure the win. Tensions flared after the bell as Omega and Strickland had to be separated by security.
In women’s tag team action, MegaBad earned a future AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship match by defeating Babes of Wrath in an eliminator. Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford survived a spirited challenge before delivering a Doomsday Device to score the decisive pinfall and cement themselves as top contenders.
Ricochet successfully retained the AEW National Championship against Jack Perry in a chaotic title match. Perry controlled large portions of the contest and locked in the Snare Trap, but interference from The Gates of Agony and The Young Bucks disrupted the momentum. Ricochet took advantage by sending Perry into the exposed championship belt before finishing him with Vertigo to retain the title.
The main event delivered a major surprise as Brody King defeated AEW World Champion MJF in an eliminator match. King caught MJF off guard early and sealed the upset with a sleeper hold followed by a piledriver. After the bell, chaos erupted as Andrade El Idolo attacked MJF, Adam Page took out El Idolo, and MJF retaliated against Page. Brody King stood tall to close the show, holding the AEW World Championship high and officially earning a future title opportunity.
