The road to AEW Dynasty continued to take shape on Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, with multiple matches confirmed and several rivalries escalating ahead of the pay-per-view.
The show opened chaotically as Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay brawled from the parking lot into the arena, with the Death Riders and United Empire quickly becoming involved. The situation broke down into a multi-man fight, with Ospreay later issuing a challenge for an eight-man “Chaos in Canada” match between the factions.
A pre-taped message from Don Callis confirmed that Kyle Fletcher is injured, leading to a change at Dynasty. A new TNT Champion will now be crowned in a Casino Gauntlet match, while Kazuchika Okada will team with Konosuke Takeshita instead of Fletcher.
In the first match of the night, the Don Callis Family defeated Bandido, Darby Allin and Jack Perry. Bandido stepped in for Brody King, who was absent due to personal reasons. The match broke down into chaos, with Andrade El Idolo pinning Perry after hitting The Message.
AEW TBS Champion Willow Nightingale successfully retained her title against Queen Aminata in a physical contest. After a back-and-forth match that saw both women trade near falls, Nightingale secured the win with the Doctor Bomb.
Chris Jericho then appeared in the ring to address his AEW future, bringing out a contract for his next match. He was interrupted by Ricochet, leading to a confrontation in which Jericho revealed he could choose his opponent for Dynasty. He selected Ricochet, reviving his “List” gimmick to make the match official.
In a Casino Gauntlet qualifier, Tommaso Ciampa defeated Mascara Dorada after countering Dorada’s high-flying offence and finishing the match with a hanging DDT and running knee.
Backstage, tensions continued to rise as David Finlay and Clark Connors attacked Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong, sending a warning to the AEW World Trios division ahead of Collision.
A heated in-ring segment between Adam Copeland, Christian Cage and FTR turned physical, with Copeland and Cage left laid out following a multi-man assault that targeted Cage’s arm.
The main event saw United Empire defeat the Death Riders in a chaotic, weapon-filled match. Tables were broken, and bodies were thrown around the ringside area as both teams fought for control. In the closing moments, Ospreay sent Moxley through a table and scored the pinfall to secure the victory for his team.
The show closed with a confrontation between Kenny Omega and MJF ahead of their AEW World Championship match at Dynasty. Omega got the upper hand, countering MJF and standing tall with the Dynamite Diamond Ring as tensions continued to build.
