The fallout from AEW Double or Nothing dominated Wednesday night’s special three-hour edition of AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision as new rivalries emerged, tournament brackets shifted, and several top stars made major statements.
The show opened with tension involving Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley backstage before Kevin Knight explained why he betrayed Darby Allin at Double or Nothing. Knight claimed Allin failed the fans by losing the AEW World Championship to MJF and insisted he should have been next in line for a title shot. Mike Bailey attempted to talk sense into Knight, only to be laid out with a uranage.
Jericho defeated Ricochet in an Everyone Is Barred From Ringside Match after surviving a low blow and connecting with a Judas Effect and Lionsault. Following the match, Tommaso Ciampa attacked Jericho and stood tall over him.
Elsewhere, Rush won a chaotic Four-Way Showcase Match involving Orange Cassidy, Brian Cage and Lio Rush. Interference broke out throughout the match, including appearances from Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly and Lance Archer.
MJF later celebrated becoming a three-time AEW World Champion before being confronted by Mark Briscoe and Rush. MJF refused Briscoe’s challenge but, surprisingly, granted Rush a title opportunity next week.
In Owen Hart Foundation Tournament action, Brody King upset Claudio Castagnoli, while Mark Davis shocked Jack Perry with a piledriver from the middle rope to advance.
AEW World Tag Team Champions Adam Copeland and Christian Cage attempted to celebrate their Double or Nothing victory over FTR, but were attacked by David Finlay and Clark Connors of The Dogs. Connors crushed Cage’s hand under the steel steps before the group posed over the fallen champions.
Anna Jay and Tay Melo also picked up a victory over Allie Katch and Ava Everett.
Following Mark Davis’ tournament win, Kyle Fletcher officially returned and declared himself medically cleared. Fletcher blasted Konosuke Takeshita during an in-ring promo before Takeshita confronted the Don Callis Family alongside The Conglomeration.
The Collision portion of the broadcast featured Will Ospreay teaming with Jon Moxley and Pac to defeat The Rascalz. Andrade El Idolo also defeated Ace Austin in singles action.
The show closed with a violent Lights Out Philly Street Fight as Kris Statlander defeated Hikaru Shida after a brutal match involving chairs, kendo sticks, tables and a shattered light tube. Harley Cameron assisted Statlander late in the match before Statlander finished Shida with consecutive Saturday Night Fever finishers.
