AEW reportedly discussed plans for Swerve Strickland to compete in a tag team match at AEW All In: London, but that particular idea now appears to have been dropped.
Swerve Strickland has been absent from AEW television since June, leaving questions surrounding what role the former AEW World Champion could have at the company’s return to Wembley Stadium later this month.
Speaking on the latest edition of Self Made Sessions, Self Made Pro reported that a tag team match involving Strickland had previously been discussed for All In: London.
However, the specific match pitched for Strickland is no longer believed to be part of AEW’s plans.
“What I do know is at one point a tag match was discussed for him at Wembley. I don’t think the one that was discussed that I heard about is in the cards anymore.”
Strickland’s most recent AEW appearance came at Forbidden Door, where he faced Will Ospreay in the final of the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
Ospreay defeated Strickland to win the tournament, with Swerve subsequently disappearing from AEW programming.
Despite his absence, previous reports suggested AEW had creative plans in place for both Strickland and “Hangman” Adam Page heading towards All In at Wembley Stadium.
It now appears that at least one of the ideas involving Strickland has changed.
AEW Held A Creative Meeting About Swerve Strickland’s Plans In Detroit
Self Made Pro added that another conversation about Swerve Strickland’s creative direction recently took place while AEW was in Detroit, although he was not informed of what came out of those discussions.
“I was told that a conversation was held about what to do with him in Detroit. I don’t know what came out of that.”
There is currently no confirmation regarding what AEW has planned for Strickland at All In or whether he will ultimately compete at the pay-per-view.
The former World Champion has not been announced for a match on the card, and details surrounding the previously discussed tag team bout, including Strickland’s potential partner and opponents, were not revealed.
AEW All In: London takes place on August 30 at Wembley Stadium.
