A new title match has been added to the card for AEW Worlds End on December 27.
Athena and Mercedes Mone have been confirmed as the first challengers for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championships, currently held by Babes of Wrath (Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron). The challenge was issued following Wednesday’s episode of AEW Holiday Bash.
Earlier in the night, Athena and Mone teamed with Marina Shafir and Megan Bayne in an eight-woman tag team match, defeating Toni Storm, Cameron, Nightingale and Mina Shirakawa. The win set the stage for a backstage segment in which Athena and Mone formally challenged Babes of Wrath for the titles, stating they had earned the opportunity.
The championship bout is now scheduled for Worlds End, which takes place on December 27, 2025, at the Now Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
