The spoilers for tonight’s AEW Collision episode have been revealed.
AEW taped this week’s episode of Collision following Wednesday night’s Dynamite from Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl on the campus of San Diego State University in San Diego, California, with several major matches and storyline developments set for Thursday’s broadcast.
The following contains spoilers for the July 2 edition of AEW Collision.
The Death Riders opened the taping with a victory over Shingo Takagi and Drilla Moloney. Claudio Castagnoli scored the deciding pinfall over Takagi after interference from Daniel Garcia.
The Conglomeration then addressed the crowd, with Orange Cassidy providing an update on Mark Briscoe after his AEW World Championship match against MJF on Dynamite. Cassidy said he was unsure when Briscoe would be able to return because of his injuries, but confirmed that Willow Nightingale would be back soon. Konosuke Takeshita interrupted the segment to promote his upcoming AEW International Championship defence against Kyle Fletcher on next week’s Dynamite.
Andrade El Idolo rebounded from The Don Callis Family’s attack on Dynamite by defeating Brian Cage. Andrade secured the victory with The Message before addressing Don Callis in a brief post-match promo that concluded with his trademark catchphrase. During the match, Cage surprised the crowd by delivering a 619.
Divine Dominion also appeared in a promo, issuing another challenge and calling on another CMLL luchadora to stand up to the group.
Adam Copeland teamed with The Bang Bang Gang to defeat Shane Taylor Promotions. After the match, however, both The Dogs and The Death Riders attacked Copeland and his partners, leaving the babyfaces laid out.
Thunder Rosa and Mina Shirakawa picked up a tag-team victory over Zara Zackher and Becca before Thekla appeared wearing Starlight Kid‘s mask. Declaring that “Stardom was dead” before proclaiming “long live the Toxic Spider,” Thekla also briefly addressed next week’s Women’s Casino Gauntlet match.
Backstage, Skyflight were shown speaking with Matt Sydal, who was revealed to have officially joined the group.
The Demand were victorious in their match despite Toa Liona suffering a cut beneath his eye during the contest. Afterwards, Ricochet targeted Sydal and Skyflight during a promo.
Athena defeated Rina to earn the number one entry in next week’s Women’s Casino Gauntlet match.
Kyle Fletcher then addressed both ELP and AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita ahead of his championship opportunity on Dynamite.
Bandido, Mistico and “Speedball” Mike Bailey defeated The Rascalz in a six-man tag team match. Both teams showed mutual respect by shaking hands after the contest.
The Opps also appeared in a backstage interview, with Hook predicting Katsuyori Shibata would defeat Bandido to capture the ROH World Championship.
Elsewhere on the card, Rush defeated Jordan Cruz before Divine Dominion returned in another promo, questioning where the rest of the tag team division had gone and warning that everyone would eventually bow down to them.
Maya World secured the number two spot in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet match by defeating Julia Hart.
In the main event, Kyle Fletcher defeated ELP in a hard-fought contest. The match featured an early scare when both competitors accidentally fell from the turnbuckles, but they recovered to deliver a well-received main event.
Following the match, Don Callis turned his attention to Konosuke Takeshita, claiming he had discovered the International Champion and made him into a star before calling him a “jealous little bitch.” Callis vowed that Fletcher would take everything from Takeshita on next week’s Dynamite.
Takeshita then confronted his former mentor, prompting Callis to retreat as the Collision taping came to a close.
