Bronson Reed Relishes Homecoming
Bronson Reed is happy to be home this weekend.
The Aussie WWE star spoke The West Australian about his return and the Crown Jewel card this weekend.
Reed faces Roman Reigns in an aptly named Australian Street Fight.
“That was a dream of mine, to be able to come back to Australia as a WWE superstar. It’s something that I’ve always thought about and now it’s a little surreal seeing the big flags and stuff with me up there with the likes of John Cena,” he said proudly.
Reed (Jermaine Haley) was born in Adelaide, South Australia.
Reed says facing Reigns in Australia will “hit different” for him.
“It is always different doing it on your home soil. It is a bit of a homecoming for myself. I have a lot of guys who I wrestled with on the indies who are going to be at the show, a lot of friends and family watching. I am facing the face of WWE. I am facing Roman Reigns. It is a huge deal for me,” he said.
Reed joked about hitting Roman Reigns with a cricket bat since it is an Australian Street Fight afterall.
“Maybe I will hit him for six with the old cricket bat. Australian Street Fight? I think the difference is we do it a little bit harder down here. Even with our sports we don’t wear protective gear or anything like that. Roman has to be prepared to take it up that extra notch,” Reed warned.
Reed said it was a “dream” to be a “Paul Heyman Guy”.
“As a young kid who was a long-time wrestling fan I used to watch Shawn Michaels. I used to watch HHH. I used to look up to them. I was a big ECW fan so I was always a fan of Paul Heyman. When I started wrestling if you told me one day Paul Heyman was going to be my manager I wouldn’t have believed you,” he said.
