A WWE veteran has seemingly spoiled their potential appearance in John Cena‘s “The Last Time is Now” tournament.
Speaking in an interview on John Poz’s TMPT, R-Truth was asked about his thoughts on John Cena’s retirement, and if he will be involved in his “Last Time is Now” tournament, and Truth confirmed that he will indeed be in the tournament, stating:
“Yes, I am [in the tournament] dawg… I hope I get picked… and I think it’s awesome, man. I think it’s awesome for the person that’s gonna be facing him, and I think it’s awesome for him to even give that type of passing the torch off.”
Truth has not yet been officially announced as participating in the tournament, but there are two mystery opponents that have not been announced to be facing LA Knight and Solo Sikoa in the upcoming first-round matches, plus two more matches in the first round that have yet to have any competitors announced.
John Cena & R-Truth’s WWE History
John Cena and R-Truth have crossed paths in WWE, as they feuded over the WWE Championship in 2011. After their feud, Truth turned face and became a big Cena fan; he even stated that Cena was a “childhood hero” of his, despite Truth being five years older than Cena.
They feuded once more earlier this year, shortly after Cena’s heel turn, when Truth made a surprise return to attack Cena at Money in the Bank, just six days after it was announced that Truth had been released by WWE.
