Independent wrestler Braxx has passed away following reports that he was shot in South Philadelphia.
Braxx, whose real name was Walt Stephen Holloway, competed for several independent promotions during his career, including H2O Wrestling and X Brand Wrestling, and was known within the deathmatch wrestling scene. Following news of his passing, fellow wrestler Matt Tremont shared an emotional tribute on social media, remembering his friendship with the Philadelphia-based wrestler.
“From day one was respectful and super cool and chill,” Tremont wrote. “He was meant to be a dominant hardcore giant in the ring and had a big heart outside of it.”
Tremont reflected on his first meeting with Braxx at Superkrazze Wrestling, and later worked alongside him in H2O and GCW. He also mentioned the pair wrestled and teamed together during their time on the independent scene.
“I was and always will be a Braxx guy,” Tremont wrote. “He was my guy, a friend and a Deathmatch warrior.”
He concluded the message by offering condolences to Braxx’s family and saying he believed he is now reunited with his mother, whom he “loved dearly.” No additional details regarding the incident have been officially confirmed at this time.
Slam Wrestling offers our condolences to the friends and family of Walt Stephen Holloway.
