RIDGEWOOD, NJ – On Thursday evening at her book signing, WWE star Charlotte Flair faced a similar question again and again from the 300 fans in attendance — how is your father (and co-author) Ric Flair doing?
She was pleased to report that Ric had only gotten out of the hospital that day.
The new book, Second Nature: The Legacy of Ric Flair and the Rise of Charlotte, has just been released. In it, Ric picks up the story where his first autobiography ended, and Charlotte’s story of entering and succeeding in the pro wrestling game is told as well. The heartbreaking section pertains to the death of Reid Flair, but Charlotte also reveals her own difficulties with her previous marriage (and Ric doesn’t shy away from his marital issues). Brian Shields worked with the Flairs to get the book out via St. Martin’s Press.
At the Bookends store in Ridgewood, NJ, Charlotte arrived at the appointed 7 p.m. start, and signed right through until about 8:45 p.m., when everyone in the line had been addressed.
She was very fan friendly and took photos with everyone, and also also signed other items for people if they had anything extra (which doesn’t always happen at book signings). She interacted with each person and seemed very happy to be there — just very personable to all the fans. I mean, she actually thanked people for coming out!
All and all, Walter the owner and the staff at Bookends made the signing very easy and smooth, making it a very well-run event.
Personally, I gave Charlotte a photo of Ric Flair and Rick Steamboat that I had taken at the Icons of Wrestling convention (holding the NWA title) and told her to give it to him, and she said she would.
