The wedding between 'Macho Man' Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth was a heavily hyped affair. It was billed as the 'match made in heaven' and was presented as a genuine feel-good moment for them as well as their fans. Unfortunately, there's always someone out there hellbent on spoiling the fun, and that's exactly what happened here.

This was WWE's attempt at a TMZ-style romance featuring two midcarders and their respective love interests. But soon it became obvious that Rusev was getting attention from someone that wasn't his valet...

St. Valentine's Day Massacre was the 27th 'In Your House' WWF/E PPV and was the last PPV event before WrestleMania XV. The main event was a steel cage match between 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and Vince McMahon, and the undercard featured ten additional matches. One of those was an Intercontinental Championship match with a special guest referee who, as you can imagine, didn't call the match fairly.

When one of these four wrestlers became a booker/promoter/match-maker, he changed the company he worked for around. He made critical changes and booked lots of 'dream matches' that long-time fans of his company never thought would happen. This booking philosophy became known as 'Pro Wrestling Love', and lasted for several years.

From 2011 to 2013, AJ Lee was probably the hottest act on RAW. She was everywhere, winning big matches and featured in major storylines. At one point, she was even made General Manager of RAW. But before that happened, she became involved in an interesting romantic angle involving certain high-profile talent.

The UWF was one of many companies that tried to compete with Vince McMahon's then-WWF during the 1990s post-territories era. But the company wasn't able to succeed for a number of reasons.

Edge shocked the world when he became the inaugural Money In The Bank (MITB) briefcase winner. And he made even more headlines when he used it to his fullest advantage to become WWE Champion. He was in such a great mood that he promised to showcase 'live sex' with his then-valet Lita, and they delivered...sort of.

Mick Foley is famous for having three separate alter-egos, on top of his existing personality as simply 'Mick Foley'. There's Cactus Jack, the violent barbarian that doesn't care how badly he gets hurt as long as he hurts his opponent; Mankind, a tortured soul of a character with some kind of personality disorder; and Dude Love, a tie-dyed-shirt-wearing hippy that seems like he awoke from being frozen since the 1970s.

Even giant need love. That was the concept behind this odd storyline on SmackDown around 2005-2006, when The Big Show was chasing JBL's WWE Championship. But when JBL realized he himself couldn't physically hurt The Big Show that much, he decided to attack him from a different angle by kidnapping the woman Show was interested in at the time.

James Ellsworth was a guy that achieved much more than anyone ever expected. After getting demolished by Braun Strowman, he was offered a WWE contract and became a regular on SmackDown. He even received a WWE Championship shot against AJ Styles. But after that push ended, he spent most of his time as the male valet to a specific woman in WWE.

Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo were a team that gained some fame/notoriety when the two of them revealed they were more than just TAG TEAM partners. One of them wanted that partnership to be for life, which led to a wedding ceremony on SmackDown, But that entire thing ended up being a ruse, as the two of them admitted during the ceremony that the entire story was just for publicity.

Another wedding that took place on SmackDown was that of then-General Manager Teddy Long. He had fallen for then-Diva Kristal Marshall, and the two of them loved each other enough to elope (despite the fact that he was old enough to be her father). And just like the wedding from 2002, this ceremony main-evented an episode of SmackDown. And also like the 2002 wedding, this one ended with a 'shocking' turn of events.

The late 2000s was a time when WWE wasn't particularly kind to women as athletes. They were still viewed as 'eye candy' instead of as 'eye protein', and even  talented grapplers spent more time in backstage skits than in the ring. This was particularly true for one Diva, who became the subject of Daniel Bryan's affections after he had dumped both Bella Twins.

In an attempt to get people that weren't kids to like John Cena, WWE booked him to have a romantic relationship with one of the Divas. This led to several backstage segments that saw them flirt with each other, kiss, and at one point, Cena returned her lingerie to her (which she revealed to the camera). It was an interesting time, for sure.

Although he had a short music and rap career, this superstar would go on to star in movies and an unforgettable series of commercials.

Art often imitates real life, but the opposite can happen as well. Sometimes wrestlers and valets are paired together for a storyline, and their close time together can lead to mutual attraction. This was the case for one couple in WCW, whose storyline turned into reality as they became a real-life married couple after first being paired together for a specific angle.

These days, everyone knows Drew McIntyre as the WWE Champion that has claymore-kicked his way through the roster to reach the very top. But there was a time over a decade ago when he was a boring rookie who, despite being Vince McMahon's handpicked 'chosen one', was not accepted by the fans. He was also linked to another wrestler, and they were even married for a short while.

This was one of the longest, most intense and personal rivalries in ECW history. Raven and Tommy Dreamer had many matches over this woman, and cut scathing promos on each other over it as well.

When the show 'Total Divas' launched in 2013, it focused on Nikke Bella's real-life relationship with John Cena. Apparently, one of the main themes of this show was how their future together would play out, especially since they had different opinions on things like children. Although it was kept separate from the actual wrestling storylines, it eventually did become a selling point for one of Cena's WrestleMania matches. And after he won that match, he got on one knee and proposed to Nikki.

Charlotte Flair is mostly known for being one of the centrepieces of WWE's modern women's division. She has been seen carrying championship gold more often than not, and has featured in more big title matches and won more accolades than any other of her fellow Four Horsewomen. But aside from that, she has also been linked to two different wrestlers at different points in time, and those men weren't always in the same company as her.

WWE has had a strange obsession with romance ever since 'Macho Man' Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth made waves as the company's dream couple. They have tried to milk these relationships for everything they're worth, sometimes to the detriment to the performers. Revealing these relationships has caused storylines to be changed or dropped on some occasions. Maybe that's why this particular couple has done their best to make sure their relationship remains strictly off-camera.

Bray Wyatt is without a doubt the weirdest character in WWE. In the span of seven years, he has gone from being a creepy backwoods cult leader, to an upper-midcard guy that talks a big game but always loses when it matters most, to Matt Hardy's esoteric tag team partner, to a schizophrenic Mr. Rogers on drugs. How could anyone be attracted to such an unusual person. Well, someone is, and apparently she wants to spend the rest of her life with him as well.

Angelina Love was one of the mainstays of TNA's Kkockouts division when it was in its infancy. She is a 6-time Knockouts Champion and has been a fixture of TNA programming when she was part of 'the Beautiful People.' But she also enjoyed a career outside of TNA, and managed to meet someone in the independent circuit. She even had a son with this wrestler, and while they have since divorced, they remain on good terms.

Triple H's marriage to Stephanie McMahon is perhaps the most politically-significant romantic relationship in wrestling history. What started off as a storyline in 2000 became the real thing in 2003 when the two of them married in real life. But WWE didn't acknowledge this at all, and went to great lengths to conceal it, even though the internet pretty much made it an open secret. It also didn't help that Triple H himself made tongue-in-cheek references to this relationship (and by extension, the identity of his father-in-law) in many promos and gag segments. But Triple H didn't explicitly state that he was married to Stephanie on-screen until a very specific point in time.

Before the 'Women's Revolution' in WWE, it was almost a rite of passage for any top woman to have to go through the typical 'secret admirer' storyline. Kaitlyn, who was once pegged as a big star after her success in (pre-Triple H) NXT, was one such a woman. After riding a wave of popularity from NXT to the main roster, one of her earliest storylines saw her deal with constant gifts from someone too shy to reveal themselves to her directly.
