Holland reflects on a career filled with setbacks
Ridge Holland is gone from WWE.
Holland announced on social media that the company has let him go.
“I’ve been informed that WWE will not be renewing my contract when it ends on November 14th. WWE are still going to cover my rehab from injury but my guaranteed pay will end, quite frustrating to say the least as I cannot work for another 6 months due to the aforementioned injury, with a family of 5 to support,” he wrote.
Holland went on to describe his very tumultuous career in WWE.
“My career with WWE has been blighted by misfortune but I’m still thankful and grateful for the opportunity and experience. The shining light that has always kept me going is the HUGE support from a handful of special human beings. Thank you. I’m unsure what lies ahead of me in terms of wrestling but going forward I will be working hard to heal up and in that time I will be launching my own online coaching business…..so stay tuned,” he said.
After a WWE tryout in 2018 Holland was signed to the NXT brand. In 2020, he suffered an ankle injury and had to be taken off the NXT TakeOver XXX card. He then caught Oney Lorcan leaping onto the him on the floor and suffered an ankle dislocation and fracture in his left leg and a knee patellar dislocation and patellar tendon rupture in his right leg.
In 2021, he debuted for the Smackdown brand and became part of the Brawling Brutes faction with Sheamus and Pete Dunne as Butch.
In a match against The New Day with Sheamus, Holland gave a suplex to Big E on the floor. Big E landed the wrong way and broke his neck. He hasn’t wrestled since.
In 2023, he returned to NXT to feud with Chase University. He joined them winning the NXT Tag Team Championship with Andre Chase but then ultimately turned on them causing the faction to dissolve when they lost the belts.
Holland is currently recovering from an injury he suffered a foot injury at an NXT houseshow. The injury required surgery.
In recent news, Ridge Holland is facing potential neck surgery.
