International viewers who were hoping to watch Smackdown live from Saudi Arabia this afternoon were stunned to see the feed freeze just minutes into the broadcast.
As Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton were about to have a chat, a face-to-face in the middle of the ring the broadcast just froze.
Netflix then put up ‘Sorry for the delay’ messaging and then replaced that with a looping ‘We’ll be right back’ video that usually plays when there are commercials during WWE broadcasts on Netflix, commercials that are part of the cable television broadcast but not part of Netflix’s showing.
The feed was down for 30 to 40 minutes. Michael Cole did apologize to fans when the broadcast resumed.
Viewers and fans expressed their frustration on X:
Wtf is happening @wwe @netflix#SmackDown ??

Live on netflix, well meant to be. Outage at the minute. Europe and a lot of other places have all WWE shows on Netflix live.
