What’s the truth behind R-Truth’s return to WWE?

At last night’s Money in the Bank event Truth returned to WWE costing John Cena and Logan Paul their match against Cody Rhodes and WWE World Champion, Jey Uso.

At the press conference after Money in the Bank all WWE Chief Content Officer had to say was it was all “part of the show” leaving fans and media wondering as to what happened behind the scenes.

On June 1st, R-Truth (Ron Killings) posted on X when he was informed that WWE wasn’t renewing his contract:  “Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you 🙏🏾”.

What followed was a truly unprecedented outpouring of support not just from fans but also from superstars themselves.

Brian “Road Dogg” James, Co-Lead Writer for Smackdown wrote on X: “ I am heartbroken. It’s the nature of the beast; the part of business no one likes but the bean counters. I love Ron the Truth Killings and I don’t care who knows it. What a run!”.

James would later delete the post.

After the press conference last night, Truth’s son Christopher Killings wrote in now deleted post on Instagram. He wrote to HHH: “Stop the cap.” and then wrote to his father: “Congrats on the new deal dad! Last run.”

“Stop the cap” means “Stop lying”.

A user named Fade on X wrote: “THIS WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST MOMENTS IN HISTORY WE ALL GOT WORKED R TRUTH IS BACK IN WWE.”

R-Truth himself responded by simply saying: “No work”.

On WWE’s coverage after Money in the Bank interviewer Cathy Kelley had this to say: “We thought we would never see him in a WWE ring ever again but the response from the fans was immediate and overwhelming: Bring him home. Tonight, R-Truth’s return wasn’t just a surprise it was a reminder of why we all love this…Sorry, I am getting emotional…I just wanted to speak for the entire WWE Universe I am so happy to see my favourite part of every WWE show back.”

In his Instagram story, Logan Paul made it clear though that he is the only person in the world who is not pleased about Truth’s return: “Had some time to digest the match tonight. Man, I think it’s safe to say that John and I were clearly the better team. We had a little disagreement, a little miscommunication in the middle there, but that’s neither here nor there. Look, it’s like I said last week, Cody and Jey are cheaters, man. They only won because R-Truth came back. That’s an objective fact. I said it last week, they can’t do anything in this business without having it handed to them, and R-Truth got unfired for whatever reason, and he came back and cost me and John the better team the match. So, that’s what I have to say about that. R-Truth, man, everyone else wants you back. I don’t.”

PWI reports that Truth “was in discussions with several about appearances and independent bookings several days ago, so the decision to bring him back happened over the last 72 hours.”
