The WWE has pulled WrestleMania out of New Orleans. The event was supposed to take place next April in The Big Easy but that is no longer the case.
In a report for The Times-Picayune, The New Orleans Advocate, Anthony Mcauley wrote: “WWE informed New Orleans sports and tourism officials on Thursday that they no longer plan to bring the event to the city, according to Walt Leger, head of New Orleans & Co. WWE said they want to build on other events scheduled for New Orleans and might bring WrestleMania to the city in some future year.”
“We’ve worked with them for the last several days to try to identify some future dates and future events to bring to the city,” Leger also said.
No reason was given why WrestleMania was pulled from the city and the New Orleans & Co. and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation didn’t comment on the cancelation.
Back in February, The Rock announced that WrestleMania would be coming to the Caesars Superdome.
Mcauley also reported: “After the success of this year’s event, the new leadership running WWE decided that they would rather hold next year’s event in Las Vegas and see what response they get from fans, according to an industry official who wasn’t authorized to be quoted by name.”
