The “homicidal, genocidal, suicidal, death-defying” Sabu is no more.

Terrance Michael “Terry” Brunk known to wrestling fans as Sabu has passed away. He was 60-years-old. The cause of death is not known at this time.

Sabu wrestled his final match at Joey Janela’s Spring Break on April 19th of this year.

An ECW original who kept the extreme mindset alive long after the promotion had closed it doors was the nephew of the legendary Ed “The Sheik” Farhat.

Sabu began his illustrious and influential career in Japan with NJPW and FMW before exploding onto the scene and changing the wrestling world forever in ECW.

While he would appear in all the major promotions such as WWE, WCW and Impact, he never rose to the heights he did in ECW.

His Born to be Wired match against Terry Funk, his Stairway to Hell match against The Sandman at House Party ’98, his bout against Cactus Jack at Hostile City Showdown, the double tables match against The Public Enemy with his partner Taz, his match against RVD at Hardcore Heaven 1996 and taking on Taz at Barely Legal 1997 are not only some of the best ECW matches but some of the most memorable, insane matches ever produced.

He was the ECW World Champion twice, the ECW World Television Championship once and held the ECW World Tag Team Championship three times. Once with Taz and twice with his close friend and tag team partner, Rob Van Dam.

Sabu’s absolutely fearless and often reckless approach to wrestling has left a lasting legacy as a pioneer of the hardcore wrestling style and inspired generations of talent.
