It is going, going, gone.

The results of WrestleMania this past weekend have put an end to the WWE Universal Championship.

Since Cody Rhodes’ lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to John Cena the WWE has retired the Universal Championship and also recognizing Roman Reigns as the last champion to hold the title.

The championship was created in 2016 due to the WWE bringing back the brand extension and each having their own “World Champion”. It was originally part of the Raw brand but moved to Smackdown in 2019.

Finn Bálor was the first champion but he had to surrender it after he suffered a serious injury. Kevin Owens beat Big Cass, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in a four-way match seven days later to take over from Balor.

Brock Lesnar held the title more than anyone with three reigns. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt and Goldberg held it for two reigns each but Roman held it the longest, for 1,379 days.
