John Cena got no love in Brussels, Belgium and he fired back with one of the best promos fans will ever see or hear.
Cena made his first appearance since turning heel and betraying Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber on Raw tonight.
At the announcement of his name, fans booed him relentlessly and chanted “John Cena sucks!”.
A stone-faced Cena made a half-hearted attempt to have his towel, bandana, whatever that thing is. He walked, didn’t run to the ring and laid it down on the mat before entering the ring.
As his music died down they rained boos down on him. There were competing “Let’s go, Cena!”, “Cena sucks!” chants, with the ‘sucks’ being quote louder.
Cena stood emotionless through it all. Cena endured the hate. He dropped the microphone and went to leave the ring and the crowd booed him more.
“You sold out!” chants began.
Cena threatened to leave the ring again.
“When someone is properly grounded in life they shouldn’t have to look outside themselves for approval,” said Cena repeating the quote he posted on X today.
The crowd jeered him.
“You are making this so easy for me,” said Cena on a monotone voice. “You see, for 25 years I have been the victim. I have been the victim of an abusive relationship.”
The crowd booed.
“No! No! No! You have lost the right to talk!” he said. “Okay, take the floor. All you do is be hurtful. All you are is abusive and all you have done is bully me into me being your damn puppet and you expect me to do it with a smile on my face! No more!” he yelled.
“F–k you, Cena!” the crowd responded as he made a motion as if to say the crowd was proving him right.
“So very kind. Thank you,” he said sarcastically.
“Look, I am not a ‘baby face’. I am not a ‘heel’. I am a human being! Each and everyone of you has been awful to me!” Cena continued ranting. “It has been the same damn noise for 25 years.”
Cena claimed the crowd has let me know often that he wasn’t worthy of their attention when he first appeared in WWE. Cena said he changed his persona and the crowd like him…for a second but it wasn’t enough.
“I worked hard like I always do and I started to win and win and win and win and win and win! I won a lot and you hated it. It wasn’t enough. So what did I do? I spent the next ten years trying to give away everything I possibly could and it still wasn’t enough!” he said.
The crowd told him in no uncertain terms to “Shut the f–k up.”
Cena stated he announced his retirement tour and tried “one last time” to get along with the fans.
“I tried to do something nice for you and you ruined it! Just like you ruin everything. For two seconds it was great but it is never enough!” he shouted before the crowd gave him the…’Na na na na, Na na na na, Hey! Hey! Goodbye!’ chant.
“Each of these idiots is proving my point with their every breath,” said Cena directly to the camera.
“My point is no matter what I do it is never enough and you should be ashamed of yourselves. All you do is take, take and take. All you care about is yourselves,” he said. “What do we get? Not one of you sons of bitches ask me how I feel. No one!”
Cena said the fans are always asking for more. He is going to give them what they earned and that is…nothing!
“That is my voice on that song and your time is finally up and my time is finally now! The only thing you get is to take a long look in the mirror to see how awful each and every one has been for 25 years to me!” he declared.
“We want Cody!” the crowd answered.
Cena called Cody their “brand-new shiny toy” and the crowd is putting him out to pasture.
He humiliated his own fans by saying they dress like him, he doesn’t dress like them. He pointed people out in the crowd wearing his merch.
The competing chants erupted again. He called the “Cena sucks!” people “jack-offs” and “horrible people” but the “Let’s Go Cena!” people are just as awful.
“You claim to support me. What have you ever done…” began Cena before pointing to someone in the audience. “What have you ever done to support me? What have you ever done for me? All you ever do is STEAL from me. You steal. You steal my personal moments. You steal my time. You have made me your toy. I am an object to you. You made me the butt of a stupid invisible joke and you still think it is funny. It is not funny. It is pathetic. You are pathetic.”
The chants of “Shut the f–k up!” grew louder. Cena said the crowd didn’t want to hear the truth. They wear his mech to feel good.
“You wear words like hustle, loyalty and respect. I live them every day,” he said to a chorus of boos. “All you have done for 25 years is sit on your ass and watch me be great! No more!”.
Cena claims he has been in a “toxic and dysfunctional” relationship with fans.
He turned to the camera.
“I am breaking up with you. We are done. I am breaking up with every, single one of you whether you like me or you don’t. You are dumped. I don’t need you any more. I don’t care about you and you don’t matter to me,” he said.
Finally, Cody’s music hit. Massive cheers accompanied him to the ring.
Cody told Cena the fans may have given him their worst but they gave him their best too for 25 years.
“They did that because you were special. They did that because you could take it. They did that because you could carry it,” said Cody to Cena.
“Listen kid…” Cena started.
“Enough! And it certainly not kid. It is WWE Champion! Let me ask you. Who the hell are you? Where is the guy on this shirt?” Cody responded mocking what Cena has become.
“This, better not show up at WrestleMania because if it does I run it over, I run it out because I already took its best shot and it wasn’t good enough. I retire it…early. So, go find John Cena because I don’t want this whiny bitch!” Cody proclaimed slamming the microphone down leaving Cena in the ring alone as they crowd cheered him.
An angry Cena left the ring as they crowd sung him out with another round of ‘Na na na na, Na na na na, Hey! Hey! Goodbye!’.
